Rapids Punch their Ticket to the ECJLL Championship Final

Jul. 18, 2026

The Saint John Rapids are headed back to the ECJLL Championship Final for the fourth year in
a row.

The Rapids completed a commanding three-game sweep of the Halifax Hurricanes on Saturday,
earning a convincing 14-5 victory in Game 3 of the league semi-finals. Combined with a
dominant 22-3 win in Game 1 and Halifax's Game 2 forfeit due to injuries, Saint John advanced
in impressive fashion and now awaits the winner of the other semi-final series between the
Sackville Wolves and the St. Margaret's Bay Rebels.

Playing with the confidence that has defined their season, the Rapids wasted little time taking
control of the deciding game. Saint John dictated the pace from the opening faceoff, moving the
ball with precision and creating quality scoring opportunities throughout the game. Every line
contributed, and the Rapids' balanced attack once again proved too much for Halifax to contain.
The offence continued to receive production throughout the lineup. Timely finishing, unselfish
ball movement, and relentless pressure in transition kept the Hurricanes on their heels and
allowed Saint John to steadily build its lead. Every time Halifax attempted to generate
momentum, the Rapids answered with another goal or a key defensive stand.

Equally impressive was Saint John's commitment at the defensive end of the floor. The Rapids
limited Halifax's opportunities, controlled loose balls, and consistently turned defensive stops
into transition chances. Strong team defence and dependable goaltending frustrated the
Hurricanes throughout the contest and prevented any sustained comeback attempt.

The 14-5 victory was a fitting conclusion to a semi-final series that highlighted everything that
has made the Rapids one of the ECJLL's top teams this season. Throughout the series, Saint John
showcased explosive offence, disciplined defence, and remarkable depth, with contributions
coming from every corner of the roster.

Now, the focus shifts to the ECJLL Championship Final.

The Rapids will face either the Sackville Wolves or the St. Margaret's Bay Rebels with the
league title on the line. Having won three straight games in the semi-finals and carrying
significant momentum into the championship round, Saint John enters the final series full of
confidence and determined to complete its playoff run.
