SAINT JOHN, N.B. - The Saint John Rapids women’s team completed a dominant weekend sweep of the Halifax Hurricanes at Lord Beaverbrook Arena, outscoring their opponents 17-2 over two games.
Led by a hat trick and five-point performance from forward Macey Hatfield, the Rapids opened the weekend with a commanding 8-1 win. Saint John scored seven unanswered goals after the teams traded early markers in the first period.
Taylor Adams (3A) and Abby Morrison (1G, 1A) provided strong offensive support, while Raine Gilmore added a pair of goals to round out the attack. The Rapids outshot Halifax 55-38 and held the Hurricanes scoreless over the final 53 minutes of play.
Saint John kept rolling in Sunday’s matinee with another dominant performance. Morgan Daley and Abby Morrison each recorded five-point games, while Taylor Adams, Macey Hatfield, and Raine Gilmore all scored for the second straight day.
Meghan Hull scored shorthanded in the first and added two assists, while goaltender Kat Garland stopped 27 of 28 shots for a .964 save percentage.
The Rapids improve to 3-3 on the season and will look to build on their momentum next weekend. Saint John hosts the Sackville Wolves on Saturday, June 7 at 3:30 p.m. and Sunday, June 8 at 2:00 p.m. at the Stu Hurley Arena.
